I'm in Berlin. It's 2am. I'm jet lagged and sick with the flu my girlfriend gave me.
I grab my phone and start talking.
Ten minutes of rambling. What happened at the workshop I hosted in Berlin. How a colleague quitting hit me harder than I expected. Strategic decisions I'm wrestling with.
I stop talking. Claude Code structures it. Adds my Whoop recovery score from yesterday (68%, yellow zone). Pulls in my last three journal entries for context. Spots a pattern I didn't see.

This is how I journal now. And it's not the only thing I've built.
The problem with Notion Marvin
2023 Marvin loved Notion. He had databases. He had templates. He had views within views. It was beautiful.
2023 Marvin also never opened Notion.
Too much friction. Open the app. Find the right database. Click the template. Start writing.
By the time he got there, he'd forgotten what he wanted to capture.
The voice-first system
Now I just talk.
Walking to the office. On the couch. Lying in bed sick in Berlin at 2am. Doesn't matter.
I speak into my phone, and a few minutes later it's structured, contextualized, and saved to the right quarterly folder with the right filename format.
But here's what makes it different: it's not just transcription.
Every journal entry includes health context from my Whoop (recovery score, sleep %, HRV, 7-day trends), recent context from my last 3 entries (themes, decisions, what I was working through), and Claude's Take at the end with 2-3 observations about patterns, gentle challenges to my assumptions, and validation when my reasoning is solid.

This is coaching, not storage.
Things through Claude
I use Things for tasks. It's clean, native, fast.
But it's a black box. You can't see your tasks in other contexts.
So I built a skill that reads directly from Things's SQLite database.
Now when I'm planning my week, I ask Claude: "What's on my anytime list?"

I can complete tasks through Claude. Add notes. Search by keyword.
The database is the source of truth. Claude is the interface.
Whoop + every decision
I wear a Whoop. It tracks recovery, sleep, HRV, strain.
But the Whoop app is just data points. It doesn't connect to anything.
I built a skill that pulls my Whoop data through their API and includes it in every journal entry.
This morning's journal:

Health isn't separate from strategy. It's data.
Ideas before they disappear
I get ideas on walks. In the shower. While journaling.
Old system: Notes app. Forget about it. Rediscover 6 months later. "Huh, this was actually good."
New system: I tell Claude to capture the idea, and it:
- Loads context ā What I'm working on, recent journals, active projects
- Understands the idea with that context
- Creates a structured file in
ideas/folder - Updates my idea book index
The file includes:
- The Idea (2-3 sentences)
- Why This Matters Now (connection to current situation)
- Where This Fits (related projects, timeline)
- Open Questions
- Original transcript at the bottom

How it all connects
Individual skills are useful. The magic is how they connect.
When I start a new Claude session, I ask for a snapshot. It launches 7 agents in parallel pulling recent journals, active projects, health trends, calendar, ideas, and task state. Full context loaded in 2 minutes.
This is context engineering. Most people think AI agents just "know things." They don't. They need the right context, structured the right way, at the right time. My system engineers context specifically for Claude so every conversation starts with everything it needs to think with me, not just respond to me.
Morning routine: wake up, Whoop data is already in Claude, journal about yesterday while planning today, check Things tasks. Everything flows through one interface.
Weekly reviews happen the same way. Claude analyzes the week across tasks, projects, journals, and ideas. It proposes what to promote, archive, or follow up on. Creates a weekly review log.
The system keeps up with how fast I think. That's the point.

What clarity actually means
Clarity isn't having all the answers.
It's:
- Seeing patterns you'd miss ("Freedom mentions escalating")
- Connecting decisions across time ("This relates to your Q4 tension")
- Getting challenged ("Are you sure this is the right path?")
- Having data, not just feelings (HRV dropping = stress is real)
- Capturing ideas before they vanish
Most people overthink strategy. They under-invest in systems.
I built a system that thinks with me.
Clarity, not productivity
Most people use AI to save time.
I use it to make better decisions.
Time savings are nice. Clarity is a lot more valuable to me.
When you can see patterns across weeks. Connect ideas across months. Have a system that keeps up with how fast you think.
